The otter (Lutra lutra), is a carnivorous mammal with an elongated body and short and strong limbs. Its large tail is broad and flattened, and has small ears that practically pass unnoticed under its dense fur, which is brownish and somewhat lighter on the underside.
Males can reach a size of between 6 and 9.5 kgs, while females are usually between 4.5 and 6.5 kgs.
It is an aquatic species, since its diet is based on fish, snails, crabs, frogs… and all kinds of fauna of river and reservoirs, so in the Montes de Toledo we will easily find it in areas that meet these conditions.
